Tasting notes of a local wine lover without elegant literacy or web design. Just plain wine talk. By the same token I analyze the opened bottle with my senses, just at the very end I re-check the producer (I first checked it when bought it for sure!),vintage, terroir, and price. These data allow me to reconstruct the wine and trace a botton line.

Hollen Malbec 2008, an overexpressed malbec some people may like
Hollen, Malbec 2008 By Hollen M. James & Hollen M. Charles, USD 18
A malbec from somewhere Mendoza. Very alcoholic and almost overexpressed malbec that keep itself close to the unbalance. A mix of red berries and dominant black cherries quite typical of the high vineyards of Uco Valley. Nice chocolaty note and floral violets are prominent at the first sniff. A malbec that may gain some complexity in 2-4 years at the most. (At some point it reminds me some alcoholic Cafayate´s red not very well taken care of at the vineyard level.) I´d say an 88 point malbec that I don´t like but some people may actually get impressed. The wine is good aside my personal take on it. Overpriced no doubt.
