Tasting notes of a local wine lover without elegant literacy or web design. Just plain wine talk. By the same token I analyze the opened bottle with my senses, just at the very end I re-check the producer (I first checked it when bought it for sure!),vintage, terroir, and price. These data allow me to reconstruct the wine and trace a botton line.

Tikal Amorio Malbec 2008 a very good high Uco´s son
Tikal Amorio, Malbec 2008, By Ernesto Catena (Puerto Ancona S.A.), USD 25
The winery´s site claims vineyars grapes from high Uco Valley: Altamira and Gualtallary districts.
The wine is very good. A juicy and well structured Malbec with black berries and currant from high altitude. Less amounts of quince and plum typical from lower land Mendoza´s vineyard. Good tannins with nice acidity and alcohol.Well integrated and soft oaky chocolaty and toasty notes. A wine ready to drink now and probaly a little better a couple of years ahead with some years (lets say 4-6 years) of plateau thereafter. A 91 points malbec and a good Uco Valley´s Malbec.
Not an outstanding malbec even though you may enjoy it stable in quality many years from now. The label and art are outstanding.
