Alma Negra, Misterio I 2007, By Ernesto Catena, USD 40
Good Cabernet Savignon based red with nice red and black fruits mixed and a strong herbaceous component overexpressed. Mendoza based vineyards. Striking chocolate and smoke well balanced. Nice end but dominated by herbal unripe Cab. I´d say a wine not balanced of 86 points at the most. No good value at all.
I´d tasted both ANIMAL and ALMA NEGRA from this winery and they were quite regular to low quality wines at unfair prices. TIKAL and TAHUANTISUYU are the other brandnames from the same winery (Ernesto Catena Winery)and show an improved quality and price value. But even those don´t show very good price/qty relation. This is what I tasted quite a few times from this winery.
