By the same token I analyze the opened bottle with my senses, just at the very end I re-check the producer (I first checked it when bought it for sure!),vintage,terroir,and price. These data allow me to reconstruct the wine and trace a botton line.
After tasting over the time this 2008 label it showed a big decay soon after 2 years of proper cellar. So to drink better before 2 years old.
