Viejas Cepas. Malbec premium roble 2008. Quite good effort from General Alvear, Mendoza

Viejas Cepas. Malbec Premium Roble 2008. By Familia Anaya.General Alvear, Mendoza.USD 6

An impressive value from SouthMendoza close to NorthPatagonia. It shows the foreseen deep brilliant bordeaux that allures me every time I see a good red from San Rafael (SouthMendoza) to 25 de Mayo (La Pampa) or San Patricio or AƱelo Valley (NorthPatagonia). Cooked ripe red cherries and quince with gentle tannins and a licorice note quite attractive. Nice oaky stuff too (mostly dark chocolate). An 86 points with very good value. Probably better 5 to 6 years of proper cellar.
